The strategic importance of Armenia-India relations is growing: Discussion between "Orbeli" and "Chintan" centers
2 m. | 2026-07-06On July 6, experts from the "Orbeli" Analytical Center and the Indian "Chintan" Research Foundation (CRF) held a videoconference titled "Armenia-India: Opportunities for Deepening Relations in a Transitioning World Order."

The discussion primarily focused on the prospects for the development of Armenia-India relations, the interregional connectivity agenda, and the impact of developments surrounding Iran on regional processes.
Experts from both centers emphasized that in the context of geoeconomic and geopolitical transformations, the strategic importance of Armenia-India relations is growing. It was highlighted that the principles of mutual respect, sovereignty, and strategic autonomy hold an important place in the foreign policy perceptions of both countries, making the deepening of Yerevan-New Delhi cooperation highly relevant.

The discussion also touched upon the opportunities presented by the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), Chabahar Port, and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The "Crossroads of Peace" project was discussed as an important initiative for developing regional and interregional cooperation and connectivity. Opportunities for expanding bilateral economic cooperation were considered specifically in the fields of pharmaceuticals, the defense industry, mining, agrotechnology, as well as in deepening trade and economic ties.
